Trump's threats specifically mentioned potential tariffs on exports to the US and restrictions on advanced technology shipments, including semiconductors. His comments on Truth Social criticized digital tax regimes that affect companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, and Apple, accusing them of discriminating against US firms while giving Chinese tech companies a free pass.

The UK's 2% digital services tax, which generates approximately £800 million annually from global tech firms, was specifically called out as problematic. Trump vowed to impose substantial additional tariffs and export controls if such policies remain in place.
